The National Church of Finland

Faces a Crucial Choice

from the book

Turn back Finland! Nations, Look and Hark! I

Dear Finnish people, those living among you, and the leaders of the nation, based on the issues addressed in the following chapters, each one of you can take a moment to reflect on whether the national church, which played a significant role during Finland’s wars of independence, still holds trust in the eyes of God. Or has the spiritual pillar of Finland's land been quickly transforming into the harlot church described in the Holy Word, through the influence of liberal democracy, which not only increases the nation's burden of sin but has already become a threat to Finland’s independence?

The leaders of Finland’s national church played a significant role when Finland fought for its independence on the battlefields in the last century, and they hold a similar role now. Unfortunately, unlike during the previous struggles for independence, most of the spiritual leaders of Finland’s national church today appear, based on various statistics, to represent more of the threat to losing that independence than the spiritual leadership that sustains the nation’s blessings. They no longer guide the people and the secular government toward decisions that preserve independence and blessings, as the spiritual leaders of old once did.

For a little while longer, the Almighty fights alongside His own for the holiness of His altars before carrying out the judgments written in His Holy Word, which are the inevitable consequence of the nation’s spiritual apostasy. The Almighty loves the people of Finland, and those living among them, so much that He will not allow messages to be preached from His altars that lead the souls He loves to destruction. The meaning of this statement, in all its complexity, should become clear after the issues discussed in this chapter.

My heart feels overwhelmed when I consider, from a human perspective, the complexity of the situation. The complicated and democracy-bound leadership structure of our national church poses a challenge when it comes to repentance, something already touched upon in relation to current church institutions in the global message (YHWH Is Calling). How can steps be taken to draw closer to God when the leadership is already divided, and a large portion has chosen to continue walking further away from God's holy and unchanging Word? What impact can a message from the Lord’s messenger have on a group that is already in conflict with itself and, as Jesus said, is heading toward inevitable collapse?

“But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them:

 "Every kingdom divided against itself

 is brought to desolation,

and every city or house divided against itself

 will not stand.”

Matthew 12:25 (NKJV)

This is the very last opportunity to rally the ranks within the highest spiritual leadership of Finland’s national church, as well as within the governing bodies of all the various Christian congregations in Finland that still have the will to continue operating in the name of the God who granted Finland its independence.

As will be discussed in the following chapters, it is futile to attempt to build unity that tramples on God's holy will. Such an effort would only change the reason for God's judgments and the loss of independence. Therefore, nothing doomed to failure should be created in the name of love and unity if, according to God, it is neither love nor unity blessed by Him. No believer, reborn through the Holy Spirit and knowledgeable in the Holy Word, can be so blind as to attempt to build lasting unity on a foundation that is not rooted in God's holy will. Where has the understanding of our unchanging God's character gone in recent decades? Does anyone truly believe that our holy Almighty God will allow something contrary to His will, falsely claimed to be unity, to stand at His holy altars?

“ Give ear, O my people, to my law; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old,

Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us.

We will not hide them from their children,

Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord,

And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.

For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel,

Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children;

That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born,

That they may arise and declare them to their children,

That they may set their hope in God,

And not forget the works of God,

But keep His commandments”

(NKJV PS78:1-7)
