The Reality of Modernized Slavery
from the book
Turn back Finland! Nations, Look and Hark! I
Voting for those who have gained the most visibility through financial backing has led to exactly what the Holy Word warns against when choosing leaders. One example, which we can grieve with the Almighty over, is the political exploitation being carried out by the new Finnish government. As its first actions, it weakens the right to strike—fundamental to democracy—and immediately follows up by pushing through significant reductions to the basic pillars of livelihood and well-being for ordinary Finns. The reasoning often heard is the poor state of Finland’s public finances. However, the fact remains, based on historical evidence, that Finland was successfully lifted out of a difficult situation in the past by following the principles of the Holy Word, while also taking care of the well-being and rights of ordinary people. The current trend is reminiscent of ancient Egypt, where, step by step, the common people are being reduced to little more than slave labor, funding the wealth and pleasures of the elite. The strategies that proved effective in Finland’s past could still work today if there was a willingness to address the missteps taken over the past decades, leading the nation toward the worship of money and other false idols.
Ultimately, it all comes down to the value-based decisions made in politics, which should be guided by the hands of the president, who is named the moral leader of the nation. In Finland, however, political decision-making has only continued down the path paved by the previous president, where, at any cost, the political power that rose to prominence through financial influence is ready to prioritize everything except the values that once blessed the nation under the leadership of Finland’s former presidents. Unlike in the United States, where the Bible still holds some standing among the country’s highest leaders, in Finland, the Bible no longer holds any place of influence. On the other hand, we must remember what has been discussed earlier: this situation is, in the end, a consequence of the spiritual leadership of Finland’s national church failing over the past few decades to honor the Holy Word and pass down its wisdom from one generation to the next, as instructed by the Scriptures. Because of this failure, the majority of Finnish citizens have, over recent decades, drifted away from the God who once blessed the nation with prosperity. How, then, could one expect the people to still be able to choose leaders who would bring blessings to the nation?
Finland's current situation can indeed be compared to a modern version of how the Hebrews, who lived close to their God, were once held as slaves by the Egyptians. Just as the ancient Pharaohs eventually forgot the blessings that had come to Egypt through the Hebrews in times of previous hardships, the majority of Finland's secular government and the spiritual leadership of the national church have already turned their backs completely on the God who blessed the nation's independence and on the minority who remind them of His guidance. The only remaining hope for Finland as a nation is for God to intervene in the course of events as described in the Holy Word. Fortunately, that hope still exists, and the change in the nation’s grave condition will inevitably come to pass with the certainty of the Word. That hope is ultimately the last lifeline for the part of the nation living under a cleverly constructed and silenced oppression.
“ Give ear, O my people, to my law; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old,
Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us.
We will not hide them from their children,
Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord,
And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.
For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel,
Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children;
That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born,
That they may arise and declare them to their children,
That they may set their hope in God,
And not forget the works of God,
But keep His commandments”
